Temporary Travelling Teacher/Governess required for B5, travelling throughout Europe, salary €1,600 – €2,000 gross per week, live-in. Contract, May – September.
A warm, down-to-earth family currently based in Singapore is seeking a qualified and experienced Teacher/Governess to accompany them during an extended period of travel throughout Europe.
The family will be travelling aboard a sailing boat, visiting a number of European destinations between May and September.
The focus of the role will be the boy’s education and development. He is 5 years old, loves reading, animals, learning and spending time outdoors. He has no screen time, and the family would like his education to remain practical, engaging and closely connected to the places they visit.
As a Teacher/Governess, you will be responsible for planning and delivering an appropriate educational programme throughout the trip. You will be expected to stay one step ahead of the family’s journey, researching each destination and incorporating local history, culture, museums, nature and experiences into the child’s learning. This could include planning museum visits, cultural excursions, outdoor activities and projects connected to each location.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified teacher with strong experience working with children of a similar age. Fluent French would be highly desirable, as the boy has recently started learning the language. The family would also consider candidates fluent in Spanish or Italian, given the countries they will be travelling through. Excellent spoken English is essential.
The successful candidate should be energetic, outdoorsy, creative and genuinely enthusiastic about experiential learning. You should be comfortable living and working in close proximity to the family aboard a sailing boat and enjoy an active, outdoor lifestyle. A strong swimming ability, a valid driving licence and an EU passport are essential.
The working schedule will be approximately 6 days per week, around 8 hours per day, with flexibility required depending on the family’s travel plans and activities.
The candidate will have their own private cabin onboard and will work alongside the family and one additional crew member.
The family are keen to secure the right person in advance of May. Allowing time for introductions.
A holding deposit will be offered to secure the candidate ahead of the start date.
