A Russian family residing in London is seeking a highly skilled, experienced, friendly and confident Governess/Governor to support the education and care of their 6-year-old son.

As a Governess/Governor you will be responsible for promoting, developing and encouraging the young boys learning. The young boy attends a private school in Belgravia and requires assistance with all school homework, subject mentoring, and revision of all school work from the day to ensure he has fully understood what has been taught. He has an upper immediate level of English and still does not understand everything being taught at school. Preparation will also need to be made for 8+ exams being sat in January 2018.

At age 6, the boy is still not completely independent and will need to have his basic daily needs met. Assistance with waking up, dressing, cleanliness, mealtimes, and bedtimes are required and the governess/governor should be happy and confident in providing such support and encourage independence in such areas. You will also be responsible for keeping the boy’s belongings tidy and in order, assist with packing for any travel and help in organising the child’s daily schedules and needs.

The household is fully staffed with Chefs and housekeepers.

The ideal candidate will be a professional Governess/Governor holding a PGCE/ educated to degree level or have extensive experience in their profession with relevant qualifications. Knowledge of the British curriculum and 7+, 8+ exams is desirable as well as being caring, engaging, active, organised and able to provide structure and boundaries as and when needed.

The working schedule is 3 days on/3 days off. You will be required to start the day with wake up duties in the morning and escort the child to school. Time during the day should be spent on lesson planning and organising the child’s schedule and belongings, followed by classes and education support after the school from 3.30pm.

You will work on rotation with a Russian speaking nanny.

International travel will be required with the family and flexibility around the working schedule during these times.

The role is offered on the basis of live in during the working schedule, sharing a room with the young boy until he is independent. During days off the Governess/Governor will be required to return home, therefore suiting someone in close proximity to London or willing to travel in and out of the city.
