The Role
Full-time English-speaking Governess required for G4 & B3, located in China Town, New York, USA. Salary $2000 – $2800 gross per week. Live-out. Start ASAP.
A private family based in China Town is seeking an experienced and highly educated Governess to support the care, education, and development of their two children, aged 4 and 3 years.
This is a genuinely educational role, with responsibility for designing and delivering an ongoing enrichment curriculum that complements the children’s schooling. You will plan and lead purposeful afternoon activities, including literacy, mathematics, language development, arts, science, cultural learning, guided reading, creative projects, and educational outings.
You will also manage the children’s after-school routines, including school collection, preparing and serving an after-school meal for the younger child, accompanying the children to activities, and ensuring smooth transitions throughout the day. A housekeeper attends the home daily, so no deep cleaning is required.
The ideal candidate will hold a degree or qualification in Education, Child Development, Montessori, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience working with school-age children in a teaching, tutoring, or Governess capacity. Demonstrable curriculum and lesson-planning experience is essential. A second language, particularly Spanish, Mandarin, or French, is strongly preferred.
The working schedule will be Monday to Friday, from 11:00 am – 7:00 pm, with some flexibility required. The position guarantees 40 hours per week.
This is a live-out position, therefore only suitable to candidates located close by. The family is seeking a long-term candidate who is warm, organised, proactive, hardworking, and conscientious. A driving licence is advantageous but not essential.
