A loving and supportive family is seeking a compassionate, experienced, and proactive SEN Nanny to care for their 5-year-old child, who has recently been diagnosed with Autism.
As a SEN Nanny, you will offer support and follow the child’s daily routines, ensuring consistency and a sense of security is provided. You will promote the child’s development through play-based learning, structured activities, and creative games tailored to his needs and interests. Plan and accompany the child on fun, stimulating, and educational outings, especially those involving nature and the outdoors. Collaborate closely with the parents, current nanny, and other household staff to provide cohesive and consistent care. Work alongside therapists and other professionals involved in the child’s development and follow through on any recommended strategies or activities. Help support the child’s social, emotional, and sensory development in a gentle and positive manner. Maintain a calm, patient, and caring presence that fosters trust and engagement.
In addition, this is a team-based role working in a fully staffed household alongside the current nanny, the parents, and other professionals involved in the child’s care and development. The child is highly creative, enjoys outdoor exploration, and thrives in a nurturing, structured, and engaging environment. You will be patient, intuitive, and confident in supporting the child with additional needs while promoting his independence, confidence, and joy through play, routine, and educational outings.
The ideal candidate will be a flexible, energetic, kind, and fun individual, holding 5+ years of previous experience as a SEN Nanny. Experience working with children with Autism is essential. You will have great communication skills, lots of wonderful ideas to engage the child, and be professional and organised. Being a pet lover is essential for this role as the family has one small dog.
The family is keen to find the right candidate for the role who will work well with their current nanny and stay with them long term.
The working schedule will cover up to 40 hours per week with a shift pattern provided 1 month in advance. This may on occasion, include weekend cover and additional babysitting in the evening. Flexibility is required to ensure the parents have cover when required.
International travel is required.
